  • ABOUT

    WHAT IS ENKEL?

    WHO?

Who are we and why do we do this?

ENKEL IS A GROUP OF PEOPLE IN PERTH THAT WORKS TO INSPIRE, SUPPORT AND ENGAGE CHANGEMAKERS.

WE BELIEVE THAT WE NEED NEW APPROACHES AND MORE PEOPLE TO ADDRESS THE PROBLEMS OF TODAY AND TOMORROW.

    MISSION

    What are we doing?

WE WORK TO CREATE A NEW GENERATION OF CHANGEMAKERS.

These people operate everywhere in society – they may be social and environmental entrepreneurs, people within government, in universities, our local communities and big business: people who see opportunities in solutions to today’s problems.

    People who want positive change.

    VISION

    What are we working towards?

OUR VISION IS A PLACE OF IDEAS WHERE PEOPLE ARE EMPOWERED TO CREATE BETTER FUTURES.

We work towards this vision by consulting to organisations, running innovation labs, organising courses, events and talks, and much more. All this work is aligned with, and reinforces our values, the four C’s; Courage, Community, Conscience and Creativity.

  • THE ENKEL NAVAL STORE IN FREMANTLE

    FREMANTLE REVIVAL

“There is currently unprecedented investment and renewal under way in Fremantle with the combined level of private and public investment in the pipeline totalling more than $1 billion including several civic, commercial, residential and retail developments.

Freo possesses immense cultural and social capital ... Fremantle’s character and the creative milieu it fosters are unsurpassed within Western Australia, drawing artists, tourists, and visitors from all over the world.”

Dr Brad Petitt, Mayor of Fremantle

    SURROUNDING AREA

The enkel Naval Store is part of the Cantonment Hill precinct, and is located opposite the old Fremantle traffic bridge - at the gateway to the port city.

In coming years, Cantonment Hill will be a vital connecting hub between Fremantle, East Fremantle and North Fremantle.

The City of Fremantle has recently secured a $2.2m Lotterywest grant to help with stage one works of the $9.5m Cantonment Hill Project.

Now, in the lead-up to wide-scale development, is our time to grasp the opportunity to create a venture that speaks of innovation and positive change.

  • FROM PAST TO PRESENT

The Naval Store was built in 1935 and since then has accommodated a range of organisations.

The space and surrounding area has not been used for the last decade, but now City of Fremantle is investing in bringing this culturally significant area back to life. This activation is shared between enkel and City of Fremantle; enkel is responsible for the Naval Store fit-out and program development, while City of Fremantle will upgrade the outside of the building, surrounding parkland and adjacent Cantonment Hill.

The designs address parking, access and community engagement. An adventure playground will be constructed on the hill, which has a fantastic view of the Swan River.

  • THE FUTURE OF WORK

“HIGH QUALITY VALUE IS NO LONGER CREATED IN CLASSIC OFFICES. ADDED VALUE IS CREATED IN DIFFERENT LOCATIONS, IN CHANGING TEAM CONSTELLATIONS AND WITHOUT PERMANENT EMPLOYMENT. THIS NEW TYPE OF WORK CONSTANTLY SEEKS NEW REAL AND VIRTUAL LOCATIONS. OPEN, DIGITALLY NETWORKED AND COLLABORATIVE WORK PLACES ARE REQUIRED WHICH ...SERVE AS INCUBATION PLATFORMS FOR NETWORK, INNOVATION AND PRODUCTION.”
